I'm Not Saying She's A Gold Digger: Look For Less

{image via here}

Not too long ago Instagram and Twitter were sent into a tailspin when Ms. Kardashian posted photos of her wrist bedecked in Cartier bling gifted to her by her boo.  Reports are saying that the baubles cost anywhere from $65,000 to $200,000.  Of course, I, along with thousands of others was simply salivating at the sight of her bracelets.  I especially took a liking to the industrial-inspired nail head bracelet and sought to find one of my own.  Now, since I don't exactly have the cash to throw down for a Cartier piece I found one that will definitely fit the bill since it only retails for $22 at NeedSupplyCo.  See, all it takes is a little online shopping investigation and you're able to keep up with the Kardashians.

Initial Here

I'm no stranger when it comes to monogramming ever since I was causing devastation in my childhood neighborhood in my Kelly's Kids in the late 80s.  I think I struck fear in the hearts of mothers as they saw me on my Big Wheel - my initials emblazoned on my seersucker romper and my Cabbage Patch riding shotgun - wondering what debauchery I was about to get their child into.  Well, I'd like to think that my tastes, as well as myself, hopefully, have become more sophisticated since then.  I love how simple and understated these monograms are such as the Maya Brenner earrings below, which were also made famous by our quasi-favorite Kardashian sporting her baby daddy's initials some time ago.
I however, would be sporting "PG" for Pinot Grigio which is my one true love.

Celebrity Style: Katie Holmes

{images via here}
I thought it only fitting to highlight Katie Holmes recent style seeing as how she is a fellow Toledo, Ohioan and since I've religiously followed her since her days on the Creek.  Once Katie had her big break several years ago it was published in our local newspaper where she had practiced her acting chops.  Needless to say, I immediately hightailed it to that acting school (along with every other child in Northwest Ohio) in order to eventually be discovered and placed in some sort of similar teenage-angst ridden drama.  I had dreams of filming on location in some obscure town in North Carolina preferably near the Dawson's Creek set so that Joshua Jackson, of then, Mighty Ducks fame, and I would meet and fall in love and I would be featured on the cover of J.Crew.  It seemed so simple and all within reach.  Long story short, my acting coach told me that I lacked "depth" and that she really didn't see a future for me.  Sadly, I gave up my dreams of acting and returned to being a mediocre soccer player and French Club Secretary where I would later be impeached, but that's a story for another time.

Currently Coveting

{1. monogrammed duffle bag, 2. collar necklace, 3. coffee table book, 4. tassle loafers, 5. striped crew neck, 6. brass place card holders}

Above are some items that have struck my fancy this week - especially this simple, yet utterly perfect in every way striped crew neck from Minnie Mortimer.  Yes, I might already own 5,000 other striped shirts, but this one would make my collection complete - or at least that's what I'm telling myself.  Sadly, my size is sold out online and I have been harassing them to see when they'll be receiving more inventory.  I'm just hoping that I won't eventually be banned from their website.

Denim on Denim: A Do

{image via here}

I know, I know we're all still scarred from that ill-fated night when our beloved Brit Brit and JT thought it would be a good idea to dress in matching head-to-toe denim ensembles.  I think the relationship ended soon after.  However, a denim tuxedo nowadays does not mean you will be labeled a fashion victim.  I've posted a few photos for inspiration to achieve a casual, relaxed look that even Ms. Lyons herself is embracing.

It's Not All Black And White

{1. knit stripe top, 2. vertical stripe blouse, 3. contrast sleeve sweater, 4. mixed stripe blouse}
Wait, actually it is.  Designers and retailers alike are embracing a strict minimalist palette in black and white combos and I couldn't be happier.  Doesn't this just take the stress and anxiety away from getting dressed in the morning?  This so-called "trend," although I would call it more of a fashion mainstay, is a no-brainer and allows for your to invest in pieces that will be wardrobe heavy hitters for years to come.

Sole Mates: Custom Ballet Flats

{images via here}

This Spring I'm on the hunt for the perfect ballet flat in a myriad of colors.  Sadly, my last pair, which was the perfect shell pink, only made it a few months since I wore them into the ground.  Of course, I've been researching my options and have become enamored with Repetto.  They offer custom made flats that allow you to not only choose the color of the slipper, but the contrasting grosgrain ribbon and laces.  Once you've constructed your personalized shoe they're shipped off to Repetto's workshop in Saint-Médard-d'Excideui (that would be France) and 3 weeks later you're presented with the finest ballet flat.  Now, the caveat is that this service is only offered in their Rue de la Paix store in Paris and starts around 280 euros.  So to convert it to USD if I carry the 1 that would mean it's....expensive.  Customization aside, these ballet flats might still have to be a Spring purchase.
