on target

via The Savvy Stylelist

I'm impossibly giddy right now knowing that Target's Go International line is launching a 34-piece collection in celebration of their designer collaboration's 5 year anniversary.  The collection will be available online and in stores beginning in March and will signal a victory lap for such previously featured designer's as Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith, Rodarte, Zac Posen, and Tucker.  I have to say that I'm partial to Rodarte and hoping the duo recreates their leopard print and wispy frocks donned by celebs such as Natalie Portman and Nikki Hilton.

fashion fur pas?

Ok, so the title of this post is pretty corny, but after coming across these photos today I didn't know if that's more of the route this burgeoning trend was heading towards rather than being fashion forward.  Granted I am all about (faux) fur outerwear, but just can't seem to get there as having it for a bottom layer - although the women above (including famed blogger, Susie Bubble) as well as the model at YSL carry it off well (damn them) I would look more like Max from "Where the Wild Things Are."  We'll see if this trend continues and makes its way across the pond.

With the weather getting more brisk I definitely intend on taking advantage of the last few weeks of dining al fresco in our tiny bricked backyard downtown.  Canopied by low hanging tree branches it creates the perfect fall atmosphere to spend evenings sipping heavy beers wrapped in fabulous fur coats from Topshop and sporting Coach riding boots with gold hardware.  Emmersonmade (my girl crush) offers the perfect first layer with nautical stripes and an absurdly large poppy flower pin to add a shock of color to the ensemble.

I"ve come to the realization that I've been taking the term "boyfriend sweater" too literally.  I've just about poached every cashmere, wool, cotton and poly blend sweater I can get my paws on from my boyfriend's closet in order to delay buying any of my own.  Alas, the bf has caught on to this and has officially placed me on wardrobe probation.  So in keeping with my love of the "boyfriend" fit I've come up with a short list pictured above that are simple yet trend right silohuettes that are easy to throw on over skinnies and every legging, jegging and twegging you're little heart desires.

transitional period

(silk floral Madewell dress, Etoile Isabel Marant military anorak, Asos skinny belt, Madewell over-the-knee socks, Jeffrey Campbell platform sandal)

With the weather being in flux and a wardrobe divided I've decided to pair Summer pieces with early Fall staples.  I love the look of a belted, wispy dress outfitted with a military anorak to create that boy/girl tension.  The ribbed knee-high socks worn with the platforms add a certain quirkiness to the ensemble, but the suede and studs of the sandal still keep it sophisticated.

faux real?

via Nastygal.com

One item that I definitely intend on purchasing for Fall is a sherling-lined aviator jacket, but not one that forces me to default to eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day.  This one from Nastygal is completely on trend and retails for under $100 - a perfect mash up and easy on the purse strings.
