good things come in small packages

Never could I live without a bottomless slouchy tote in which I lug around my entire life and would be utterly lost without.  However, the current trend is placing an emphasis on downsizing with a simple understated pouch that moonlights as one's carryall.  Oh-so-chic wedged underneath the arm of an editor of the glossies I'm still somewhat skeptical of it's practicality.  Of course I would don this look for a night out or quick jaunt running errands, but it would force me to only take along the necessities.  Although after rummaging through my bag and finding a pair of socks, a wine opener (how did that get in there?) and several forks (weird) this might be something I should look into.

apparently New York Fashion Week.  It's good to see that the animal print trend is not abating, which means that I can still get more mileage out of my Zara leopard print shift dress (thank God because it's tremendously forgiving).  Spotted (no pun intended) en route to the shows, bloggers and bigwigs alike were sporting a range of prints.  I love Jenna Lyons offbeat look with print mixing and a pop of color although those frames she's sporting are a whole other thing.

NYFW Street Style

Almost as much fun as gushing over the Fall '11 runway wears during New York Fashion Week is seeing the ensembles of all that attend these shows.  From quirky to coiffed it proves to be a no holds bar for street style.

More often then not, I turn to my arsenal of glossies for fashion & style inspiration, but as of late I've taken to websites such as lookbook.nu, glamcanyon and stockholm style that feature authentic looks on our global streets.  These sites offer an intimate view of personal style and ways that people interpret the current trends and display their own aesthetic.  I'm also extremely impressed and absurdly jealous of the 14 and 15 year-olds that are displaying their chic wardrobes on these sites - definitely a far cry from the umbros and adidas sambas of my adolescence.
