covetable cravats

This would be my sophomore post on the feminine bow tie because I am absolutely obsessed with the look, which is also why it's so picture heavy.  Although it can come off androgynous in an Annie Hall type of way it can also evoke a bit of old school glamour.  Last night, when out to dinner I donned my little ruffled confection of a top paired with skinny jeans and gold Tory Burch flats.  At first, I thought it could be a bit over the top, but by untying the bow to be worn loose and throwing a leather jacket over the look toned it down a bit.

not so cookie cutter

Quite possibly the most clever (and trendy) cookie idea I've ever seen!  Click here for the recipe.

lusting after lace

Lace is being seen as a big idea for Spring as evidenced through runway and editorial.  More virginal than vixenish, creams and crochets are dominating the scene.  Above are some of my favorites looks that just may or may not have been purchased during a vicious online shopping spree (which by the way, has spiraled out of control - I need to put myself on lockdown).

frugal find

espadrilles are the epitome of warm weather, which is a little hard to get to right now seeing as how I'm constantly clad in boots and trudging through the snow.  However, in order to get ahead of the game, I spotted these adorable styles from Old Navy, which are more than easy on the wallet (so you can load up on multiple pairs).  I'm expecting my shipment in the mail tomorrow.

little miss moffatt

Lauren Moffat's Spring 2011 lookbook has me swooning.  It's so retro and Jackie O-esque.  I especially love the scalloped edges she's used on a few of her frocks, which will help me justify my purchase of these little chiffon shorts from Urban Outfitters since I'm being frugal or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Over the weekend, my brother was in town from Texas, which made me realize that I'm a complete schmuck because I have yet to visit him since he made the move.  I've never been to that part of the country before and don't count the time I headed to Scottsdale, AZ for a trip with friends during college and ended up getting an emergency wisdom tooth extraction the second day we were there.  Needless to say, I was hyped up on vicadin during the rest of the time and really can't recall anything.  So in my redeeming trip I came up with my hypothetical packing list (I have yet to figure out how to acquire these goods) and of course, my beloved, beat up cowboy boots will be thrown into the mix as well.  When in Rome, right?

denim after dark

I never thought I would see the day that I would willingly purchase wideleg jeans.  I've definitely been admiring this look from afar, and just recently spotted the Madewell pair on Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere, but I still continued to opt for skinnies until I stopped into Madewell last night for their "Denim After Dark" promotional event.  I don't know if it was the combination of the 20% off full price denim or the complimentary mint mojitos (I wanted to ask for a second cocktail, but thought the bartender would judge me), but I fell in love.

apparently New York Fashion Week.  It's good to see that the animal print trend is not abating, which means that I can still get more mileage out of my Zara leopard print shift dress (thank God because it's tremendously forgiving).  Spotted (no pun intended) en route to the shows, bloggers and bigwigs alike were sporting a range of prints.  I love Jenna Lyons offbeat look with print mixing and a pop of color although those frames she's sporting are a whole other thing.

An edgier take on the nautical theme cult classics such as breton stripes and sailor's rope bracelets.

NYFW Street Style

Almost as much fun as gushing over the Fall '11 runway wears during New York Fashion Week is seeing the ensembles of all that attend these shows.  From quirky to coiffed it proves to be a no holds bar for street style.

Olivia Palermo for Tibi lovefest

images via Tibi
Yes, it is Valentine's Day and although I should be compelled to post about feelings and all that nonsense I'm incredibly uncomfortable with emotion so I thought I would chat about Olivia Palermo's newest campaign for Tibi.  Olivia was recruited for the Spring '11 web campaign where she dons Tibi garb of her own choosing along with her own personal baubles and accessories in order to style her own looks.  I know that Olivia is lauded for her style, and I myself am a fan, but I'm somewhat skeptical that she styled this entire online campaign herself - you're not fooling me, Olivia.  Nevertheless, I'm absolutely obsessed with the amazing elephant belt and the trench with the fantastically pleated collar.

Wills and Kate

Those clever Brits!  A shockingly non-tacky royal souvenir to commemorate the big day.  Admittedly, I really want these little mittens, but since I'm across the pond I'd feel more appropriate sporting a "Brad" and "Angelina" pair if that day ever came.  Available here if you just aren't able to resist.

Wardrobe Envy

The Coveteur
There is always that person in everyone's life that without fail, looks amazing and impeccably put together.  Sometimes you question if this person is affected by such things as aging, what we all thought were common insecurities and unsavory side effects of weather and the answer is no, probably not, which is why they look so damn good all the time.  You just want to be able to take a sneak peak inside their closet in order to see how they get it together every day.  Well, a fun little website called The Coveteur is trying to satiate that need.  They feature bigwigs of the fashion retail and editorial world and their ridiculously cultivated wardrobes.  Granted, their most prized possessions are artfully shot so you're not going to be seeing tattered college hoodies and random graphic tees that they schlep around in - we're talking big kid birkin bags here.  Regardless, it offers a glimpse into the personal style of these high profile figures as well as their guilty online shopping and blogging pleasures.

You're lucky.  I almost titled this post "Cold Turkey," but I thought that might have been taking it too far as well as would have make no sense.  Enjoy!

neutral territory

Of course on the heels of my last post preaching about bright, saturated color I've also been taking note of the cosmetic palette being hyped for Spring and wanted to share a few of my favorite looks.  Although I'm a huge fan of head-to-toe neutrals, I also love how Rachel Bilson (my girl crush) pairs her look with a pop color and J. Crew's shock of red lipstick to an otherwise, monochromatic ensemble.
